Rules and Policies

Dress Code
ALL STUDENTS MUST HAVE HAIR SECURED, UP AND AWAY FROM FACE & NECK AT ALL TIMES. BALLET STUDENTS ARE REQUIRED TO WEAR A BUN FOR BALLET CLASS. Dress codes are established to promote learning and unity within a class. All students will be required to wear proper dance attire. Our in studio dance wear store carries a full line of clothing, tights and dance shoes.

Attendance & Absense
Students are expected to attend all of their classes. We appreciate being notified by phone when a student will be absent from class. Frequent absences may result with a student being removed from a class. In addition, if a student is absent for three consecutive classes, he/she will be automatically dropped from the class. See Tuition & Payment Policies.

Level Advancement
Students do not automatically advance to the next level each year (Exception: Pre School Program). Although students may have mastered certain steps or combinations, our goal is to ensure the technique and strength used in performing these steps is mastered before the student is strong enough to meet the demands of the next level of the curriculum. Additionally, regular attendance in classes will have an impact on a student's progression to the next level. We have a graded curriculum starting at Level 1 and progressing through Level 7. Auditions are not required, however a placement class may be required to determine an appropriate level for a new student. Final decisions on level placement are at the discretion of the teaching staff and director.

Performance
An annual showcase named "Defile" [day-fee-LAY] held at the end of Spring Session involves all classes. This show gives the students, parents and public an opportunity to observe the total curriculum. Students are encouraged, but not required, to participate. Through the year students of all levels can be selected to perform with our Bravo Groups, these pieces are used throughout the year as occasions arise.
